Yes please biography
The band were formed in Västervik (Sweden) around september 2004 by singer/rythm guitarist Andreas Järvenpää and lead guitarist Jonas Nilsson. They hired a small rehearsal space that were meant to be used by newly started bands since it contained the basic equipment for a band, guitar amps, a bass amp, a drum kit and a song microphone. In lack of a percussionist to play the drums, Andreas and Jonas asked good friend Anton... Lindmark to try it out. So with two electric guitars and drums the band started rehearsing covers just to learn how the play their instruments. Andreas and Anton actually recorded a few covers under very poor conditions in a 8-channel studio that still recorded using DAT-tapes. They decided to name themselves “Hysteria”. Not that the name had any special importance to the band, they just wanted a name that they liked. It took Hysteria about a year or so to realize that a bass-guitarist were needed and that something were missing in their sound. So they contacted childhood friend Marcus Andersson and asked him to try it out, just for fun. At the beginning Marcus were quite sceptic to the whole idea, but agreed to give it a try and grew quite fond of his newfound interest. Marcus changed Hysterias overall sound rather dramatically and made them feel more like a real band. They started out playing covers of bands that they listened and looked up to, just to learn how to play their instruments. In mid December 2005 they started recording their first demo, which were supposed to contain three cover song but turned out to be a single since only one track were recorded. Needless to say, they were quite disappointed with the results and decided to not spread it out to escape from complete embarrassment. Instead they continued rehearsing the same three songs, plus added a forth song to their setlist and started preparing for their first ever performance. It were supposed to be held at Andreas, Marcus and Jonas school. They were planning to play three songs, but after listening to the good advice of a sound-technician, they decided to only play two of the three songs. They went onstage just to find out that their amp settings had been changed from distortion to clean and that Andreas microphone only seemed to work when it wanted to. So yet again, they were disappointed but refused to give up, so only two months later they performed at another school. This performance went better but not good enough to please them, so they decided to stop playing covers and start rehearsing and writing their own music instead. Shortly after this decision were made, percussionist Anton Lindmark were replaced with David Nilsson (Jonas Nilsson’s younger brother). They spent almost half a year writing and rehearsing which resulted in the writing and recording of “Hysteria EP” which were released the 10th of February 2007. The band participated in the annual music competition Musik direkt about a month after the EP release. They also performed at Ludvigsborgsskolan in Västervik again. These two performances were something of a boost to the band since they were pleased with the outcome of the gigs. In the beginning of the summer Hysteria decided to write yet another EP and a little luck led to the cooperation with producer and sound-technician Jerry Söderberg. At that point the band members agreed upon the fact that a change of band name was necessary, since a lot of other unsigned bands also use “Hysteria” as band name. Another reason for changing the name of the band was the fact that “Hysteria” (and the meaning of the name) doesn’t describe the band and their music in the way they wanted it to. Therefore they decided to switch names from “Hysteria” to “Yes please” before they released their second EP. The recording sessions of this EP started on the 2nd November 2007. The result of the cooperation with Jerry Söderberg was “God’s terminal EP” which is expected to be complete in February 2008.
